The walls of the Sharanam Shelter for Girls in Mumbai tell a story now. They didn't before Kristin Factor arrived. Working entirely from her own initiative and her own funds, this EFM designed an art education program from scratch for 25 orphaned girls — creating age-appropriate lessons for each child, showing up session after session, and filling the shelter's walls with the girls' paintings and creations. What began as art lessons became something larger: a space where girls who had very little reason to trust the world around them found their own voices, their own capabilities, and their own sense of what they might become. Factor dedicated hundreds of hours to this work in Mumbai, asking nothing in return.
